The series would have to go seven and Crosby would have to score an amazing amount of goals.

If Detroit wins, I'm guessing Osgood would pitch another shutout in one of the wins, so that would give him three for the series. There is your Conn Smythe winner.

Crosby not notching any points in the first two games makes it very, very difficult for him to win it in a losing effort.

Best. Finals. Game. Ever. (Especially the third period.) I woke up literally dizzy after that game.

However, this guy takes the cake. No one, and I mean no one, comes into this guy's house and pushes him around during a Penguins game.

C'mon, it wasn't even on the shortlist of stupidest things written that day!

You could rewrite that post 100 times and it still would be on the short list of the stupidest worst hyperboles posted. ;D

I've seen my share of sweeps and I thought this one was in the bag, and said so. What can you do -- win some, lose some.

Fortunately, I didn't back up my bluster with a wager.

Goalmouth, the only thing that is in the bag is that I know I will not enjoy either of the intermission reports on Saturday night.

Last night's game got the best SCF Game 3 ratings in six years. (I was covering that game six years ago).

It's also interesting that the SCF got a better rating in Detroit than the Pistons' ECF game. But you have to consider that the hockey was on NBC and the basketball was on cable.

Another shot at Lemieux, this time by David Shoalts.

But communicating with the public has long been a one-way street with Lemieux. If there wasn't anything in it for him, interviews were not often granted.

When he made his celebrated comeback from cancer and back problems, and to sell tickets for the team he had to buy out of bankruptcy, Lemieux made himself available for interviews. Ditto when he decided to play for Canada at the Olympics in 2002.

    and

when Lemieux and the majority owner of the Penguins, financier Ron Burkle, needed help squeezing politicians to finance a new arena, he was a regular Paris Hilton when it came to media appearances.

I'm with Shoalts on this one. Doesn't help his image--not that it was much to begin with.

Mario Lemieux is relatively unfriendly except when he needs something from somebody? Tell me something the average Penguins fan hasn't known since the mid-80s.

Initially I think people cut him some slack because he only spoke French and like Malkin, was uncomfortable with his English.

He's always been aloof--even when he's in front of the cameras but this just comes off as being an idiotic way of dealing with the media when you have probably the most exciting team in hockey since the Oiler days.

He did get better once he became more comfortable speaking English, but I don't think he has ever cared much for that part of the job.

I'm not sure idiotic is the word I'd use because I don't think it really costs Lemieux anything to be so quiet. The arena deal is in place. They have Crosby to be the posterboy. It's not like the Penguins are lacking for attention right now.
