    Awesome fucking game.

Ryan Malone is a warrior. Holy shit. Anyone who says hockey players aren't the toughest athletes in the world is a moron.

Fleury put on a clinic tonight. A Conn Smythe-worthy performance.

Watched a game with a buddy of mine who's a die-hard Pens fans. Thought he was going to have a coronary in front of me at the age of 24.

    "Oh my gosh."

I don't know how many times I've uttered those three words in the past two hours or so. I was on desk, about ready to give up on getting the game when I saw Sykora ... I've never been so happy to see a goal in who knows when. Reminded me of the Pens-Caps game in 1996 that lasted four overtimes, only this game meant so much more on so many levels.

For the Penguins to win in three overtimes, on the road, facing elimination when most media I read wrote them off the moment they lost Game 4 ... wow. Gutsy, gutsy performance by Fleury and the Penguins during those overtimes. Just great to see.

Side note: I got two text messages from friends who don't watch hockey all that much, if at all, these days because they simply don't care. But they were watching this series, and they couldn't turn off the TV and go to bed until they saw someone score. I know we've mentioned how the TV numbers are up somewhere in this thread, but tonight I got more proof of that. And they will be watching Wednesday night.

    Wow.

That was an amazing game, to think about the thin line between a season being over and playing game 6, and how many times the Red Wings came oh, so close to closing it out. Hell of game. Go Pens. Funny thing about hockey, it's all greatness and no hype.

Oz: I had heard that one of the games last week got a 70 share in Pittsburgh, which rivals Steeler numbers.

I can only imagine what last night's numbers were!

Did any of the papers get the game in this morning's edition?

If so, where was it at?

Games 3 & 5 are two of the best damn hockey games I've ever seen.

That one stop Fleury made--doing the splits--may go down as one of the best clutch saves in playoff history.

    I'm thinking seven games.

Luck is a hot goaltender. Fleury reminded us why Crosby isn't only player on that team who was taken first overall in an NHL draft. Unbelievable performance.

Agreed on Crosby. He made play after play in his own end. He simply had no room to create anything offensively in the overtimes.

It's not that I don't like Detroit, but I really do not want to see them raise that Cup in Pittsburgh.

Regretably, I just don't see Feury being able to carry the team again. You can't ask him to do what he did last night again in the next game.

Fleury was great. He has been the best Penguin throughout the series.

Nice to see Malkin get involved.

    Wednesday night should be fun.

Fleury was great in OT but that first goal was a stinker.

He cheated and got caught. Just a bad goal which brought the Wings right into the game.

I watch very, very little hockey (but of course watched 'til the end last night), so maybe a regular can answer this -- isn't it customary to swallow the whistle in playoff OTs? Was it unusual to see a few power plays last night plus that four-minute call at the end, even if it was obvious? Or have they been calling things closer in recent years?
