I find it stunning that there is a team in America capable of beating Duke and losing to Auburn.

There is fail brewing in Manhattan, Kan. K-State, the preseason No. 3 team and Big 12 favorite, is 0-2 in conference play and about to go the world of the unranked. With trips to Columbia, Lawrence, Austin, Boulder, Ames and Lincoln coming up, it's reasonable to wonder if K-State will recover its season and make the tournament.

Well, when the chemistry in their backcourt sucks to the extent it currently does, due to missing pieces, they're in a heapa trouble. They're not alone. You gotta have the functioning guards.

Wait a second, I thought Frank Martin was some kind of mad genius. Seriously though, I wasn't sure K-State was a Final Four team because Clemente was a big loss, but I'm shocked at how much they've struggled.

Welcome to Florida State hoops. You'd be hard-pressed to find 10 bigger yo-yo teams in the country. I can't imagine what it must be like to root for them.

College basketball in the South is amazingly bad this year. It's a bad year all around, but particularly in Dixie. The ACC has never been this awful. Duke might not play another ranked team this year. The SEC is pathetic. Conference USA is going to be a one-bid league again.

Meanwhile, the Big East seems to have at least 11 or 12 teams who are legitimately good enough to be NCAA Tournament teams.

Big 12 might be even more impressive with 10 teams looking like they could be in the tournament -- Texas Tech and Oklahoma being the two who have no shot.

Even Nebraska and its 280somethingth-ranked schedule?

    Choose your ACC team!

Baylor's SOS is in the 200s also.

A bit reaching right now to say the Big 12 might get 10 teams in. Kansas, Missouri, A&M and Texas are locks. Baylor is probable. K-State better straighten out. Oklahoma State is looking OK, and Colorado, while off to a good start, is Colorado. Nebraska and Iowa State, well, we'll see.
