Pretty good game in Durham. Does anyone know why the crowd in Cameron seemed to suddenly erupt when the ball went out of bounds with about 3 seconds left? Some guy on the Duke bench -- maybe one of the assistants -- was going out of his mind, too. It didn't seem like a mere "We've wrapped up the game" cheer. It sounded like a lot of screaming.

OK, I just saw the four-point play by Rutgers and there was no foul on that 3-pointer. That was a phantom call.

It shouldn't have come to that, Villanova blew the game, but that was ridiculous.

But I am being honest when I ask this - watching tonight's action - is there a great team in college hoops this year?

There are some good teams - like Texas, like Kansas, like Pitt, like Duke -- but I don't see one team that I can say "if they don't make the Final Four it will be a disappointment."

    Not one.

  5. I would have said it about Duke before Kyrie Irving got hurt, but now now. Not even an undefeated Ohio State team excites me.

With three seconds left, it was finally a done deal. Chapel Hill couldn't mathematically close the gap.

The one assistant who was going nuts was Mike Krzyzewski's son-in-law, the one guy who didn't play for Duke over the years. IIRC, the last non-playing assistants in Durham were Pete Gaudet and some guy names Mike Brey, who's doing pretty well for himself in South Bend.

Welcome to the rivalry, Seth Curry.

K-State trying a 1-night experiment in getting its shit together.

I turned on this game, found out it was Musberger and Knight (who, as much as I hate him, actually isn't as bad as I would expect him to be in his TV role), and went elsewhere.

But now that you have brought me back, I'll watch it, with the iPod buds in. So let's see what happens, now that K-State is up, 21-11.

Knight called it with three minutes left saying Martin should tell his kids to get off the court and act like this is how they should play all the time and not get swept up into the court-swarming thing.

    Here comes the flood ...

There have been so many ups and downs for this team this season. To lose the way they did on Saturday and turn around less than 48 hours and do this....let me tell you, I would have thought you were smoking some good shit if you had told me this was going to happen tonight.

Family said it was LOUD in the Octagon tonight.

K-State fans, you're welcome on that pending NCAA tournament berth. And thank you for knocking the Jayhawks back down to earth. Reading the postgame comments from Saturday's game, they seemed a little ... confident. Too confident.

Selby back in the fold. Robinson out. KU moving up to No. 1. Crazy atmosphere at Bramlage. A desperate K-State team needing a signature win while avoiding falling to 4-7 in the conference, ending any tournament hopes. Just the perfect storm for K-State, which played its tail off tonight. Straight beatdown. They looked like the team people thought we would see when the season began.
