The thing is, the mid-majors may have fewer quality teams, but so do many of the BCS conferences, too. SEC and ACC are stone mediocre as a group. SOME of those conferences' marginal NCAA teams will be first-round conference tourney losers There are 68 teams that have to be invited, come what may.

That's true too. It may come down to whoever sucks least in their respective conference tournaments.

Funny thing is, even with 64 teams, you'd be hard-pressed to say the Big East doesn't deserve 11 teams.

Can't argue with this at all. What a deep bunch of teams. Granted, a 700-team conference should get several bids, but the BE is impressive this year.

If the Big East gets 11, is that the largest percentage of teams from a conference to get in? Trying to remember if the ACC got 8 out of 12 at any point.

I'm pretty sure the Big 10 has had 7 out of 11 make the field. My math sucks ... is that a greater percentage than 11 out of 16? :)

Looks like the ACC had 6 out of 8 in 1986, 1987 and 1989. But that's a realllly quick search, so take it FWIW.

So nice to live in ACC country. BYU and San Diego State are playing on national TV. But not here. We get the Raycom broadcast of N.C. State and Georgia Tech. Puke.

Amen. I'm an SDSU alum, so I'd been looking forward to watching my Aztecs play on TV for the first time all season.

Instead, we get a who-cares game between two ACC also-rans.

Thanks for nothing, CBS. What a joke.

No problem. And, for once, it's a LEGAL link.

Best part of BYU-SDSU, besides JIMMER!, is that the SDSU student section are all dressed like Mormon missionaries.
Right down to the bike helmets.
    Fan-fucking-tastic.
