I guess it didn't even hit me at first but St. John's really should have been called for a technical at the end of the game too. If a guy threw the ball into the stands in a normal game with 1.7 seconds left, that'd be a T, right? That would have been a hell of a call to make.

Higgins needed a walker from the opening tip in that game yesterday. Walking. Light jogging. Out of position. Actually, that can best describe Higgins the past 10 years.

Burr has actually had a pretty decent year. But that was as egregious as it can get. Total lack of concentration and not officiating until the buzzer.

and a hell of a call to make on a T by throwing the ball into the stands? Ask Rick Pitino his opinion about that.

Pervis Pasco wonders why these guys couldn't have been working the Big 12 tourney a few years ago.

I cringe every time I'm covering a game Higgins works. He makes phantom calls, and misses obvious ones. Burr isn't much better.

Higgins already called one guy out of bounds this year. What else do you people want?

The love Lunardi and ESPN are giving to Colorado, for whatever reason, is a little absurd. Their RPI sucks, their SOS isn't great, they've got some pretty crummy losses, and the whole "THEY JUST WIN, BAY-BEE" doesn't hold water when they've only won 20 games. It's not like this team is 28-4 or anything.

Yeah, they beat Kansas State. When they were awful. Yeah, they beat Texas. When they were awful. And that's it. What gives?

Not the second K-State win. By that point, they were getting their shit together, and as of now it's their last loss. Texas was a late-season win too. That said, they're in the conversation because the bubble is particularly weak. And they're not getting in unless they beat K-State a third time.

Beating Texas late in the year just isn't squat to me. Rick Barnes being Rick Barnes.

Yeah, I understand why they'd get play, but ESPN is oozing love for them. Why these guys?

Chris Fowler still works there, right? ESPN will always have an irrational love for Colorado, no matter the sport, while he's on the payroll.

Pasco's one shining moment. Heck of a touchdown catch.

Just to compare Colorado to another team that's safely in the tournament ...

Villanova is 6-8 against RPI Top 50 wins, which everyone points to as proof it belongs. Colorado is 5-7 against such teams.

Villanova had a much better non-conference SOS (178th, according to kenpom.com) compared to Colorado. But Villanova never left city limits for a game while Colorado played, but lost, at Georgia and at Harvard. and their neutral-court games were nowhere near Boulder, unlike Villanova's neutral-court games in city limits.

And really, can we actually call Texas awful? I mean, it will be a No. 2 seed. Doesn't seem awful to me.

The guy I worked with at that time was a K-State grad. We stopped working for a few minutes to watch the ending of that game on a television in the newsroom. When Colorado hit the shot, he turned around, calmly dropped a few profanities, and I'm not sure if he said another unprompted word the rest of the night.
