Or, it also could be that the Illini are pretty damn good this year.

This probably can't last, but McCamey and Richardson are both shooting better than 50 percent from 3-point range. If those two are hitting from the outside, Illinois will be tough to beat.

Sprint Center is also without an anchor tenant. So it will gladly take all the college basketball it can get until (or if) the NBA or NHL ever arrive.

He just seems so relaxed. Roy wasn't that way with the two teams that won championships at UNC. After his surgery, he's changed. The guy is getting his ass kicked on the recruiting trail as far as I am concerned. Then on top of that losing the Wears must have hurt.

Big Ten is going to win this thing without Purdue's best player (Hummel) and Northwestern's best player (Koble). With those two guys, the Big Ten would be unstoppable. Wisconsin, MSU, Illinois are all Final Four material. Purdue and Indiana aren't slouches either and look at Northwestern... maybe this is their year.

Don't laugh, Blitz, but Southern Miss could be the best college team in our fair state this year. It's taken Larry Eustachy seven years, but he may finally have an NCAA team on his hands. They'll be 5-0 after disposing of Alcorn State tonight, and the closest game they've had was a 7-point win in their opener at South Florida. If they can win at Oxford on Saturday against the Rebs, they might start getting some love in the polls.

Not sure this thing is over yet. If Va Tech beats Purdue (up 3 with 7 to play), it'll be 5-4 Big Ten with 2 to play.

OK, *now* it's over. Purdue with the OT win gets the Big Ten to six.

N.C. State was able to keep it within 40 against Wisconsin. I wonder if the Wolfpack fans are still glad they chased off Herb Sendek.

I saw their big commit Rashad Perkins dominate the state title game for Starkville High over my alma mater, Meridian High last February but the kid never made it and is now at Chipola JC
Eustachy is a good coach for sure, he's proven that on his stops.
Another Chipola guy, Gary Flowers, is a senior this season and he came up big last year when Ole Miss won by just 81-79.
Flowers grew up around Dallas and he's the sort of street-wise recruit that Eustachy needs there in order to compete.
Too many locals on the roster will get you beat.
Saturday's game should be automatically motivational for the Eagles.
