Obviously K-State was "supposed to win" at the start of the game. I'm just saying it felt, to me, like the Boise State-OU Fiesta Bowl, where the "underdog" just kept landing haymakers that no one watching would forget any time soon. It felt like a story book kind of game and in the story book finish, no matter my rooting interests, is for the underdog to win.

It felt like it had "upset" written all over it. You know that feeling, don't you?

Edit: And I don't even say that because it would have been that huge of an upset if Xavier had won. I say that because of they way they were playing, by bombing 3-pointers like that.

Excellent point, Stoney. It's not like Stevens figured out how to make Butler a winner.

Matta changed most of his Butler philosophy when he went to Ohio State. That, in itself, is what helped him be successful. I thought Collier made a horrible mistake going to Nebraska. No tradition, no recruits, hell the talent in Omaha is two-star good at best. Nebraska doesn't care much for men's basketball.

Lickliter and Iowa, as we mentioned at length on the Coaching Carousel thread, didn't work out. Add the anti-Alford sentiment, and Lick didn't have a chance in hell to succeed.

To me, an attribute of a good coach is to adapt to new surroundings, find a style of play that fits the personnel he has, convincing recruits to come and win games.

Matta was fortunate, Stoney, because OSU is a consistent winner in the Big Ten. Nebraska's dead last in the Big 12, and Iowa has no place to go but up.

If a team opens in a zone defense, what does Rafferty do?

Purdue has hoisted some busted-ass-looking 3-pointers...

He often says "...starts out in a zone ... with man-to-man principles!"

Why is it that the buzzer sounds like a car horn?

I ain't so smart: I picked OSU to beat "my" Vols in my bracket.

Of course, thrilled that I was wrong. A UT/UK rubber game in the Championship, perhaps?

It's anyone's championship berth on the left side of the bracket, but I won't put it past Pearl to fuck it up.
