Just imagine if Butler somehow wins the title and Jim Nantz has to give them his corny "XXX takes the title" line.

Because if you took the last 40 years of basketball and ranked the 160 Final Four teams, they'd ranked about 159 in that field, one spot ahead of George Mason.

The bottom line is the field was very medicore, something I've said from about December on, and when that happens, a team like this gets through.

And now we get another week of this ridiculous "little team that could shit" followed by another bullshit 20-15 half-time score and 57-53 barn burner played at a snail's pace.

What an incredibly moronic statement. Butler definitely deserves to be in the Final Four.

I didn't say they didn't deserve to be in THIS Final Four.

I said they are, historically speaking, one of the worst Final Four teams ever and only a moron would even try to argue that.

  5. If my wife didn't have the car, I think I might be tempted to hop in and drive to Broad Ripple immediately. It's going to be a good time, even more than usual.

Exactly. 24 straight wins, and Butler's four losses were to:
    Minnesota (by nine points)
    Clemson (by one)
    Georgetown (by seven)
    UAB (by 10)

Butler went 18-0 in conference play (and won the league tourney).
I'd say that's a pretty good resume for a Final Four team from a mid-major conference.

And now, for the pseudo-National Championship game.

  8. I honestly think this is going to become the norm, with a mid getting through at least every two or three years, especially now with the major schools building their programs around one-and-done guys.

This is all Kelvin Sampson's fault.

If you want 100 points per game, go watch the NBA. Butler's an excellent defensive team that allows just under 60 points per game. Good for 10th in the nation.

They score almost 70 points per game. That's in the middle of the pack nationwide.

They're an excellent team. Just because they're not sexy doesn't mean they're a weak final four team.

Oh, great, Ted Valentine on the West Virginia-Kentucky game.

In front of every silver lining there's a dark cloud.
