I know time was a factor, but what a pathetic final shot from Prince.

That said, Tom Izzo is amazing. Someone said earlier on this thread said we overrate him. I'll disagree. I'm not sure we've done him enough justice. I didn't even imagine MSU could get to the Final Four this season. No thought in my mind they'd get this far.

Tennessee had a timeout left. Why not catch the ball at midcourt and call it. Then you've got, say, 1.3 seconds left and you're 47 feet closer to the basket. Much better than the no-chance midcourt shot.

Clearly I should have been picking 5-seeds instead of 1-seeds.

Yeah, there have been better halfcourt shots by 10-year-olds at the halftime of NBA games than that one. I didn't like the intentional miss either, though obviously it didn't matter. I think that's a better play if the other team doesn't have any timeouts left. Then you make them rebound and turn and fire a 60-footer, instead of being able to inbound.

That's the exact reason I didn't like the intentional miss. It gave Tennessee the option to go pass/timeout.

Izzo manages to do it, year after year. He just did it again.

    So does Coach K.

Yeah, the Vols overcame a lot to get here. Doesn't change the fact that they had the Final Four in their grasp and pissed it away with dumb play in crunch time.

I don't watch Big Ten basketball religiously, but I'll add this for Izzo: I've never known him to just straight pull the plug on a season the way Coach K (and for that matter, Roy Williams) have.

What will haunt UT is how many UT players Morgan ran past on his way to that low block.

And is that UT kid can make both free throws...

    Great tourney.

As a basketball coach, watching MSU run its offense is like watching porn. I never watch MSU without a pencil and paper handy, as I always end up with a new set or entry I can file away for what I can use later. The crispness and speed with which they run everything is amazing.

That, and when teams are evenly-matched, the team that wins the rebounding battle puts itself in a good spot to win. MSU has always dominated the glass throughout Izzo's tenure.

It's not like this Michigan State team has a dearth of talent. There are plenty of good players on that team, and there's a reason why it was a consensus top 5 or 10 team in the preseason. But considering the way they struggled at times this season, and to lose Lucas during the tournament... My god, Tom Izzo is magical.

He also broke Bob Knight's record for most Final Fours by a Big Ten coach today.

Nice job by Baylor finishing that first half. Can they make it through another 20 with the Dukies?
