Yes, that'd be my only real criticism of him as far as coaching is concerned – and it's a big one.

I'm not so sure he's the best 'in-game' coach. And in a tournament, that matters quite a bit.

Just like his buddy Pitino, who's a "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" type of coach if I've ever seen one.

Trivia Time: Name the 12 active college coaches with more than one appearance in the Final Four.

Off the top of my head: Huggins, K, Izzo, Roy Williams, Gary Williams, Calhoun, Boeheim, Howland, Calipari, Pitino. That's 10 and if I had to guess on the other two, I'd say Matta and Barnes.

    Edit: Duh. Billy Donovan.

If Calipari counts, then Steve Fischer and Jim Calhoun should be on the list as well.

Rick Barnes and Thad Matta should not be.

Correct, so the original 10, plus Donovan and Fischer.

Butler spends Final Four week going to class.

The Bulldogs are staying in a hotel starting Thursday, but they'll be shuttling them back and forth to class. It appears Brad Stevens isn't doing this all out of love for the academic athlete ideal -- it's to help give his players a sense of normalcy and routine in a not-so-normal week.

Some would say they should already know how to shoot free throws when they get there.

The FT problem has more to do with the lack of fundamentals at the youth & high school/AAU levels than anything else.

Free throws don't get you shown on Sportscenter so kids don't work on them.

I realize I'm parachuting in late, but we're really crediting Calipari with taking UMass and Memphis to the Final Four?

    Yes, why wouldn't we be?

Well, he was the coach, and the teams did go to the Final Four, so yes, we're crediting him. The NCAA isn't, but that doesn't mean anything to any adults I know.
