Hans, I didn't mind the tear-jerkers, though I never saw them as such.

ESPN already did a long piece on Nolan Smith, so CBS was filling empty space.
The last two were new and no one knew much or little about it.

Off-hand, is it me or did the NCAA has the late Myles Brand's signature on the court sidelines??

Is that Beach Ball of the News at half court wearing a tan sportcoat?

It is ... and I'd say I find it incredibly tacky, but this is the NCAA.

Was it really worth it for Butler to spend a timeout there?

Why is CBS featuring Obama so prominently in its NCAA coverage? I don't recall George W. Bush or Bill Clinton getting this much attention during the tournament. Do we really care who he picked or what he thinks of the tournament?

He's a huge basketball fan. I think that has more to do with it. When Bush was in office -- baseball seemed to be brought up a lot. When Clinton was in office -- it was about Arkansas basketball. Obama doesn't have a team and loves talking about it.
If nothing else, it's less time we have to hear some of the other filler they pump in.

You don't remember all that coverage of Clinton and the Nolan Richardson Hogs? They run it because Obama actually has knowledge and isn't a pussy to fill out a bracket. He realizes it's good politics and he's interested in basketball. Plenty of stuff about Bush and baseball. To each prez, his niche.

    Agreed. No problems with it.

Agreed as well. Let this be a small reminder to sports fans and critics who feel that the prez, VP, or anyone else in D.C. should spend their time dealing with the world's problems.

They're fans just like us. They like to spend a few hours enjoying what they love, whether it's the Final Four, World Series, World Cup, or the strip club.

Sorry, I had to take that shot at Team Elephant and their strip club bar mess!

As NCAA president, did Brand leave behind "A Legacy of Leadership" as it says?

    Only for firing Knight.

This game is too close. I think MSU pulls it off, but I hope not.
