And for the fifth time - a ball batted around and bodies flying could lead to a foul - and sending someone like Hayward to the line with a chance to tie the game.

Just like they did when the Fiesta Bowl decided to match TCU and Boise State meaning their schools might not get embarrassed again by an unclean non-BCS team.

an over-the-back call off a free throw is rarely whistled during the first half of a regular season game, much less with 3 seconds left in the title game. there was no call on zoubek or butler (can't remember the guy's name) on the fight for the rebound on duke's final possession with ~40 seconds left when the ball went out of bounds off zoubek. the refs were, wisely, going to let the teams play it out.

hell, singler got destroyed at midcourt on a questionable screen on the final heave and nothing was called, not that you would expect it to be in that situation.

Perhaps - but do you really want to leave it up to whether or not an official decides to swallow his whistle or not?

If anything Singler committed running over a player who had position. But I guess the ref didn't want to make that call either. They only wanted to make poor charge calls on Butler.
