Actually from what I've seen this has been a great tournament. Close games and upsets.

They would not have won the Pac-10 -- they would likley have finished about fourth or fifth - why?

Because they'd have to play nine road games against a group of teams who are almost all more talented than/then they are and picked up a number of losses.

Again, what they proved today is on one day, when they play as well as they can and their opponents don't, they are good enough to win.

I can appreciate these smaller conference teams, I can't stand the jacking off some people do about how great they are and how an upset here or there proves anything more than, well, they upset someone.

First of all, thank you Bill Self for ruining my bracket and millions of others. Another epic tourney choke job for a coach, and a program, with far too many of them over the last 20 years.

Is this worse than the UTEP loss in '92 or the Rhode Island loss in '98? Is it worse than Bucknell or Bradley?

That being said, hats off to Northern Iowa. They absolutely deserved to win this game.

I don't know that we will be talking about this for ten years - I think it was pretty much understood going into this tournament that the field was very much up for grabs - because there was a whole lot of mediocrity.

I just don't see this as an all-time type of upset because Kansas, while the favorite, was certainly not a team like North Carolina last year who blew everyone away.

I watch the tournament religiously and have for my entire lifetime and I think that's one of the top five early round upsets I've ever seen.

I don't know if I'd go that far. While KU has a great team UNI is pretty damn good. They aren't a 9 seed despite what the committee did to them. They look a hell of a lot tougher than the last few Valley winners. Drake was a 5 seed a couple of years ago and this team looks better than that one.

Yeah, it's an upset and probably the biggest win for UNI since they beat Mizzou in 1990 but that wasn't a fluke. They could very easily be playing for a Final Four spot next Saturday/Sunday.

    Early round upsets?

I'd have to think about it.

But here is how I think about things -- was this Kansas team an all-time great type of team?

If it had won the title -- where would you have ranked it among the top teams of all time?

I don't know that it would have been in the top 50 teams - maybe 100 -- of all time even it had won because there were a number of teams that didn't win that were better than this team.

I mean, seriously, those for teams from last year's final four were all better than this Kansas team.

So for me, in order for it to be an all-time upset, I am not seeing that.

    That wasn't a fluke?

Do you really believe if those two teams played in a seven-game series it wouldn't be 4-1 Kansas?

I mean, come on, I know some of you have this love affair with the little guy out there but that doesn't mean you have to lose your mind.

Kentucky is the only team remaining that has a chance to be remembered as a great team in 5-10 years.

This is just a lite beer year in college basketball.

If they shoot like they are tonight we could cancel the rest of the tournament because nobody would be able to touch them.

You're assuming their title won't have been vacated and tournament participation stricken from the official record by then.

    Good point.

But we all remember where Chris Weber played even if the NCAA does not want us to remember.
