There has never been a sports team at any sport at any time in history that always brought its A game. The 1962 Celtics got blown out in some playoff games by 20. One year the Abdul-Jabbar UCLA team was overtime (I think), but definitely life and death to win its first round game.
Most underdogs fail to win games where the favorite brings its C game because they trip over their own anxieties. Northern Iowa sure didn't.

All of a sudden Wake has cut the lead to 23.

His father is Iranian. Played for the Iranian Olympic team and his mother is American. Both of his parents coached volleyball.

Perhaps to some degree once they got a lead, yes, but Kansas also played with no sense of urgency until it was too late.

Then let's go back to 16 teams.

Works for me. And while we are at it - - let's go 16 teams, double elimination.

Wake should have been in the play-in game.

Malone's fo, fo, fo and fo for the Sixers was probably the closest.

I would disagree with this -- the UConn (women) Huskies in 2002 certainly did and the UConn Huskies of the past two years - 72 wins in a row by 10 or more points -- seem to have as well.

Zag, you should check out the NJCAA (JUCO) National Tournament. :)

Fun day to be a Jayhawk.

Lose to UNI then watch K-State advance to the Sweet 16 with a win in the same building.

I'd go with the 2001 Lakers. 15-1. Only loss was in overtime. Nine of the wins by double-digits.
