Quite a feat, considering the SEC had a grand total of four teams in the tournament.

And you know what? If Cornell can take Kansas to the final possession in Lawrence, it can play with Kentucky.

In raw ability, Kentucky is 12-15 points better than all the other teams in this tournament. But I saw them lose to South Carolina, a classic mediocre D-1 power conference team. So they have their lapses.
The thing is, Cornell didn't just win two games. It shredded two of the traditionally best defensive teams in the game. To put up 87 on ANY Wisconsin team means you are a danger to whomever you face.

Coach Anderson just got a seven-year extension after last season, did he not?

Agreed. I figured they'd collapse without Hummel. They've shown some real onions with the way they've fought through that. They probably would've had nice shot at the whole thing with Hummel.

  9. Well, the Big Ten had a whopping five.

It was a good weekend for the conference, though it's almost certain to come to an end for Purdue quickly. They showed guts, but now they've hit their ceiling. Tough break for MSU, too, losing Lucas.

I don't know why it's a shock to some that the Big Ten would get multiple teams this far. Like I said Friday night, I often wonder if some people ever even watch games. The three co-champions were all really, really solid teams...and that was evident throughout the year. I think, if they were all healthy and if they had all been put in different brackets, it wouldn't have been a total shock to see at least two of them get to Indy.

Izzo might be the best coach in the nation. Especially in March.

Can we put to rest this bullshit theory that Bo Ryan is an elite coach? He is a total asshole that thinks he is the smartest guy in every room and it shows every tourney when his vaunted defense is run out of a gym because he refuses to ever play any zone or attack a ball screen in a different manner. Offensively his teams have no hope of ever out scoring a team that is on it's game. His record vs. teams that score 70+ is a joke. The thing that really pisses me off about Ryan is that he used to be a great guy. At one time I sat and had beers with him and he was salt of the earth...today he is above that sort of thing. Totally full of himself and his teams will always lay a huge egg in the post season. Good coach yes. Great coach? Not even in the conversation.

What we thought: The Big East was hot shit, the ACC was down, the Big Ten was the Big Ten and the Pac-10 sucked one.

What we learned: The Big East was about as overrated as overrated gets, the ACC sucked like many of us thought, the Big Ten was the Big Ten and the Pac-10 wasn't quite the shitfest most thought.

Oh, and the Horizon, Ivy and Missouri Valley are laughing all the way to the Sweet 16.
