UK lost that game the same way Calipari's Memphis team lost the 08 national championship: his players failing to foul in a situation where they obviously should have. They had TWO EXTRA FOULS to give on that final possession, why in god's name would they not use them?

As a recruiter and motivator, Calipari is a tremendous coach, but it is remarkable how his teams always seem to lose the most important games for the SAME reasons: can't make free throws, boneheaded strategic mistakes at clutch time. UMass, Memphis, and Kentucky--same story.

And Calipari had a timeout he didn't use after that free throw.

But UK lost, so I'm happy.

But Calipari did tell his players to foul, so this wasn't on him.

On the flip side - where are all the Tom Crean haters now?

Hmm ... Kentucky was 10-for-17 at the free-throw line.

A Calipari team that doesn't finish a game by hitting its free throws. Stunning.

Yes, I know, he and Roy Williams are terrible coaches who only ever win games because they get AAU thugs who are superior athletically to a lot of other players....

    Jesus, are you ridiculous.

Give me either of those two over just about anyone you want to name and my team will beat yours eight or nine out of ten times.

Of course, the one time your team beats us you will roll out this nonsense about how these two can't coach....

I didn't use the "T" word, zag. You did.

    Putting words into mouths much?

The Butler shot against Duke seemed like a minute. And I love it when SI has a two page shot where you can see the fans in the background.

Nah . . . Calipari isn't a bad game coach, at all, though he's clearly a better recruiter.

Wholeheartedly agree on both posts. The Butler shot felt like it was floating for an hour.

Bob Knight punched someone when he saw that picture. YOU DON'T RUN ON THE FLOOR AT ASSEMBLY HALL!

Thank God that stupid bullshit is long gone ... even if I dislike IU anyway.

I swear I covered a game against Temple in '98 or '99 when people went on the floor after Guyton hit a buzzer beater.

Vitale was highly questioning the IU (did I get that right?) kids for not getting the ball to Zeller in the second half. It all worked out in the end, but Zeller should have had way more touches in the second half.
