Bizarre loss for Missouri to an average-to-bad Oklahoma State team. Should Kansas win at Iowa State on Saturday, it might be tough for Missouri or Baylor to catch the Jayhawks.

Moultrie at Mississippi State's the real deal. State's a dangerous team. They have a solid, senior point guard. They have size, length, bulk and skill inside. And Moultrie is turning into a legitimate national POY candidate (something like 17 ppg and 11 rpg). He's an explosive run-and-jump guy, but he also has very nice ball skills and knows how to play.

So much for reviving a rivalry. All the talk ... and little action as NCSU walked into Chapel Hill and limped out.

Chapel Hill might have found some heart. Well, Tyler Zeller certainly has it. Dunno about the others yet, but when Stilman White hits a 3, you're done.

NCSU has to quit just jacking up shots. Played right into Chapel Hill's hands.

You would have thought Sidney Lowe was still the coach, or something.

Yeah, I like him better than Lawrence Roberts, who was at MSU in early 2000s and was thought to be the real deal. Lawrence rebounded plenty but was not the explosive consistent scorer that Moultrie is.
Roberts was drafted and had a cup of tea in NBA but Moultrie can put on a few pounds and make a bigger splash eventually.
The Barbee coaching change at UTEP was why he left, I think.
State's at Florida today, with O'Connell Center having the same aura as Arkansas' Walton Arena and Vandy's Memorial --- State rarely wins at those three places (oh, and Rupp, too) the other seven campuses in the conference have all been easier places thru the years for State.

Is it that hard to get a C in a class, Fab Melo?

Roberts had no ball skills. Moultrie has post moves, he can shoot it facing up. He can put it on the floor enough to do something with a ball fake off a mid-range jumper. And he'll make a good pass. He's really good. He's not a shot blocker like the kid at Kentucky, but he's a better offensive player and just as good on the boards.

A Mark Gottfried team jacking up shots with abandon? Knock me over with a feather.

Not that it looks a lot different in Tuscaloosa this month.

Colorado State is putting the wood to SDSU and Moby Gym is almost filled. They must have given away 100,000 free tickets.

Moby wasn't full - way too many empty seats to claim such - but Colorado State hasn't given a crap about basketball in a long, long time. Probably did give away some tickets with your Qdoba order or something.

Shame, too ... Tim Miles is doing some pretty good work, as witnessed by those who watched the Rams paste San Diego State.

So, what're Stokes' plans at Tennessee. Is he immediate NBA material or there for the longer haul?
He's into double figures now, as Tennessee is at home this afternoon and handling Auburn.

Too much adventurous travel, too much overachievement with a roster not quite as good as last year's . . . still a great coaching job by SF, and you haven't heard the last of them.
