Alabama and Mississippi State got the memo Saturday that teams in the SEC West (yeah, I know basketball's not using divisions any more) can't be any good.

Homer Drew would agree with you with regards to his son.

Let the kids play. You got too much damn talent to screw it up.

Well the big "debate" here is whether Pitt's loss to Seton Hall today eliminates the Panthers from an at-large consideration. Really?

You left out "the Miller kid," too. He's got lottery talent, too, even if Drew is too stupid to figure out how to maximize it. "The other Jones kid" would probably be a stud by now, his senior season, if he had went to Michigan State or Duke.

But I'm sure Scott Drew pays well.

Here is another question for you out west - at what point is Ben Howland going to get canned?

Probably after this season, barring a startling turnaround. I would like to remind you that he's only now four years removed from three consecutive trips to the Final Four, so there's no reason to be impatient. With that said, he's just not the right fit for UCLA. He'll be hired up quickly, I'm sure, and he'll succeed wherever he goes.

The problem is it's "UCLA" so two second-round appearances with two non-tournaments (including a losing record) immediately following those Final Fours ain't gonna cut it for most in Westwood.

UCLA landed the one of the top five players in the country for next season.

I would say he is safe for a couple more years.

I'm wondering what the hell has to happen to USC for them to dump O'Neill.

The thing about UCLA Is - Steve Lavin went to the Sweet 16 like five or six years in a row and they canned him.

    The Lavin Way was essentially...

    1) Start season with solid expectations
    2) Lose to Cal State-San Lucia Nabisco Propecia Tech at home
    3) Spring an upset or two in conference play
    4) Earn a middle seed for the NCAAs
    5) Last a couple rounds, then exit quietly.

    Can-able? Given it's UCLA, I think so.
