That and teams don't stay together for more than a year or two. If you're constantly turning over your roster it's hard to build the continuity you need to excel.

Today, the gap in ability in the top 20-50 players in college basketball does not differ much with the average player.

In the 1980s and 1990s, this was not the case, and all of these top players were playing with the elite teams.

It is because the top 20 players are mostly all freshmen or sophomores - if they were juniors and seniors, as they were in the 1980's, it would make a huge difference, but guys don't get to their junior year any more and a lot of them don't get to be sophomores.

Texas isn't in the Pac-12. So it won't be playing Utah in the championship game anytime soon.

Point made, without juvenile name-calling. Seriously, calling someone a dickhead because they disagree with you?

As to your other point, is the Big East better? No, but the ACC is unquestionably stronger. And I think Navy against SDSU would be a pretty interesting intersectional matchup.

As to the overall talent level in college basketball, it's unquestionably higher than it was 20 years ago. Almost every player today can do things most players 20 years only dreamed about, thanks in part to liberalized rules on palming, travelling, and allowing more physical contact.

No, I didn't call someone a dickhead for disagreeing with me - I called someone a dickhead for taking a know-it-all wise ass approach to correcting me, especially since I was just throwing out names of teams in different conferences as an example of how ridiculous all of this has gotten - not really concerned with who may or may not actually be in championship games. And this is especially since, the way things are going the divisions could and likely will change just as soon as Texas gets to the Pac 12 and Louisville gets to the Big 12.

And you are confusing athleticism with talent. There is a huge difference.

How 'bout we just NOT call people dickheads and then we don't have to split hairs over why.

I will say this: if South Florida is an NCAA team out of the Big East, as a lot of people seem to think, then the Big East is wildly overrated. Been awhile since I've seen a team gack the final minute of a game (regulation AND OT) worse than USF did last night. And, sorry, but I am not impressed with Notre Dame.

LSU giving Kentucky all it can handle in the 2nd round of the SEC tournament. 'Cats up 2 at 37-35 with 13 minutes left.

I may be a total dork for this, but I love the Dick's Sporting Goods commercial with the "Rudy" music.

Notre Dame will be one- or two-and-done in the Tournament, but I have to say that Brey has a nice thing going there at this point, year-in and year-out. We're talking about a coach who said just six or six or seven years ago that he thinks of his program as a mid-major. That was a bad, bad team early this year. Then it lost its best player. It's an accomplishment just to be where they are.

Virginia, which I still refuse to believe is in, claws back to take the lead in the ACC quarters against NC State, then gives up a flop-tastic 4-point play at the buzzer. Down two three at the break.

Also, John Henson hurt his wrist on a fall in the UNC-Maryland game. You'd think he'd know how to land better, as much as he goes to the ground.
