Running 2011-12 College Basketball thread

  1. Brey gets paid a lot of money to win regular season games. Only once has he won more than 1 game in the NCAA Tournament, and that was only a 2-win performance in 2003.

Still, he's a very likeable guy, and gets mediocre recruits to perform pretty well.

Does he get paid all that much? Comparatively?

You know how soccer teams tank in some competitions? Virginia needs to find a way to do that in the ACC tournament and somehow put those resources into winning other games. They just can't win in the tournament, especially when it's against a Carolina school.

Could you imagine the reaction if a major school sent out a big-team-in-Europa lineup for the conference tournament?

OK, I'm officially turning this game off. State's C.J. Leslie just shoved a UVa player to the floor right in front of the ref, then passed it out for a 3. Nothing to see here.

Alabama-Florida going exactly the same way as last time. Gators playing like ass to keep Bama in it, before inevitably dropping the hammer in the second half.

I'm not entirely sure Lute Olson didn't do this a few times.

Wisconsin currently has 69 points against Indiana. If adjusted for inflation, that's 200 points for any other team.

Pretty much. If Alabama ever gets down by more than 5, it's over. They might be the worst outside shooting major-conference team in the country.

And Virginia slides back onto the bubble. Motherfucker.

Virginia is in. If trash like Seton Hall and Mississippi State is still on the right side of the bubble, the Hoos have nothing to sweat.

I hope you're right, but 4-6 down the stretch and one good win in November isn't the stuff of tourney resumes. Granted, the Hoos have plenty of good excuses - they lost their 5th-, 6th-, 8th- and 10th-best players, and their No. 2 guy is playing with a broken hand - but none of that is going to change for the NCAAs. They'd be an easy team to leave out.
