Furbush (redundant) did the same thing for the Tigers tonight against the
Angels. But he stopped before he fell down and didn't throw the ball. Problem was, there was a runner on third. Balked him in.

In the dugout afterward: "All right, smart asses, which one of you glued the damn ball to my glove?"

Cubs reliever Marcus Mateo was averaging less than 1 IP per appearance this season.

On June 30, he's left in for five innings.

Today, he hits the DL with an elbow injury.

I'm just thankful the organization has few, if any, prospects of note for Quade to Dustify.

Something's up in Fenway. Lester gone after four innings, no sign of injury, no word from clubhouse.
BTW, Lester and Albers have a no-hitter with two out in the sixth.

Left lat strain. Smells like DL.
If this lands him on a 15-day DL, Beckett will be the only member of the original rotation who hasn't been there yet.

Mets-Giants are on MLB Network at 10 p.m. Friday.

Your announcing team: Al Michaels and Bob Costas. A first-time pairing.

Excuse me while I genuflect, but wowzie wow wow.

Damn, didn't realize the AT&T Park tv booth was big enough to hold both their egos.

Very odd coincidence tonight, 35 miles apart.
Angel Stadium: In a 0-0 game, second inning, Angels' Kendrick gets an infield single, very close play at first, ump ruled Tigers 1B Martinez came off the base to catch a high throw. Kendrick goes on a hit and run, Aybar lines one down the right-field line. Ordonez fires to second trying to get Aybar, Kendrick never stops running and scores ahead of the relay throw. Angels win, 1-0.
Dodger Stadium: In a 0-0 game, fourth inning, Dodgers' Kemp singles. One out later, Uribe hits one down the right-field line. Kemp cruises around to third and Uribe heads for second. Mets RF Beltran throws to second. Kemp then tries to score and is thrown out at home by SS Tejada. Kemp wasn't running hard between first and third. Score remains 0-0. Mets strike later and win, 6-0.
The plays were almost identical but Kendrick ran hard all the way and Kemp didn't.

And the other interesting news from Anaheim is that Joe West's crew got a collective case of PMS, throwing out three players and Leyland. Leyland was apparently hot under the collar because they kept making Verlander get a new ball on the mound because they said he was going to his mouth; an inning later Verlander got ejected after he was already taken out of the game. Yeah, that'll show him.

Lost in all the foolishness was the fact Dan Haren outpitched Verlander, going for a complete game, 2-hit shutout.
