Went back into time and pulled this out:

"Some people may scoff at this, especially the ones who claim steroids are ruining the game... but left unchecked, this problem of umpires feeling they're bigger than the players and the game itself could cause significant damage to the game itself."

I said this in September 2007. It's been nearly FOUR years, Bud. It's gotten to the point where the mainstream baseball media is now saying it. I want to stress: Not every umpire is horrible. There are good ones in the game, but the clowns like Joe West, Angel Hernandez, Phil Cuzzi, Chris Guccione, Sam Holbrook, CB Bucknor... those are the ones who need to be dealt with in some way.

Every day you don't deal with this, you're inviting trouble.

  2. Kerwin Danley is horrendous. It takes incredible skill to cost BOTH teams games in the same three game set, but he did.

If Angel Hernandez were in any other profession, he would have been long gone by now.

He is temperamental, provocational and spiteful. A shitstain on baseball.

They need to cull the herd. Execute hardcore play-by-play evaluations, grade, and eliminate the bottom 5-7% from MLB . . . if not for life, then for five years, minimum, and those eliminated will
have to display exemplary, revived skills at lower levels to swim back upstream, if they desire another chance.

They evaluate them now. If these are the best they can find, who is going to replace them.

That said, Angel Hernandez is a fucking piece of shit. There are a lot of bad umpires but nobody approaches his level of douchebagness.

Zambrano, Wells and Dempster have all fallen apart to various degrees and their fifth starter is hurt. That's the biggest problem right now.

    Awesome thought.

Pittsburgh has a gaping hole at 3b and finds itself in contention.

The Cubs could convince Aramis Ramirez to waive his trade veto and send him back to Pittsburgh.

In a tradition dating back to Ray Fosse of every highly-touted Indians prospect getting injured early in their career: Lonnie Chisenhall beaned in the face by Villanueva of Toronto. At least it wasn't a knee injury like Santana last year.

The Cubs aren't very good at baseball.

Ok, the Cubs still suck; just a bit less at the moment.

I wonder what Bobby Hill and Matt Bruback are doing these days.
