    WTF x 2

Verlander has a WHIP of 0.885; Jared Weaver has an ERA 1.81 and a WHIP of 0.948

But no one pitches with more pressure than CC, he has a chance, but the anti-Yankee bias will keep him from the award

No, just like last year, guys pitching better than him will keep him from the award.

Probably true, but he's been pretty fucking awesome this year.

Tonight's probably the best I've ever seen him look.

A shame about the rain. He'd already reached a personal high in K's, had struck out the side in the 7th, and probably would have gone 9.

all whip numbers aside, if cc keeps pitching the way he has the last 2 months, he's gonna finish with close to 25 wins and about a 2.50 era. even in these times of writers examining more closely the whip-type stats, when a guy has the most wins/record by a pretty good margin AND an era as low as that, it still makes him the frontrunner for the cya.

but we're a loong way from knowing what the final numbers will be for any of the contenders. just sayin' that the way he's been pitching makes it very premature to declare he won't win the cya. it's not like last year when he led the league in wins but hernandez's whip numbers blew everyone else's away.

meanwhile, this game is still far from over with 2 on, no out in the 8th.... just pulled after walking bases full in the 8th, up 3-0. just wasn't as sharp after the second rain-delay.

It's cute when shockey says whip.

It's like a little kid using big words he doesn't understand.

What pressure does Sabathia have -- knowing that every start could be the difference between making the playoffs by seven games or eight? Having to pitch well enough to protect a six-run lead?

    The Nationals are pathetic.

You're assuming a lot with those projections, though you did kind of acknowledge it.

Coming into today's games, Sabathia had one more victory than Weaver and Verlander, who have been clearly better in terms of ERA. Let's not get too excited because Sabathia dominated the worst lineup in baseball.
