If the strain is relatively mild, Ross can absolutely handle the staff until McCann is healthy.

Don't give MLB too much credit. In the two hours after that game got done, MLB Network merely called it an "interesting" way for the game to end and moved on. No direct mention that Meals might have blown the call, no postgame interviews from an angry Pirates clubhouse about that blown call.

But then, that's not a surprise. It was MLB Network.

    Inconclusive?

The ball is there five steps ahead of the runner. A tag is made. If he calls him out, there's not one person in the ballpark or watching at home that has a problem with it.

Or a tired pitcher give up a run in the bottom of the 19th ...

It was after midnight. Did anybody even bother to shoot postgame video?

In this day and age probably not.

And that's the issue. This looks exactly like an umpire who wanted to go home after a long night.

I thought it was horrid when I watched it in regular motion.

But watch the replays in slo-mo, especially the one from the first-base side. I think McHenry grazed him, but no more than that.

And he definitely did NOT get him on the arm, as was asserted by the PBP men when they watched the replay.

Bad call, shitty time for a call like that to happen, especially for a team in first place, but to make that call to be the worst call in the history of baseball is way over the top.

Watching SportsCenter, it looks like there were the usual postgame interviews in the locker rooms. MLB, at least in the hours after the game, simply wanted that swept under the rug.

What a load of self loathing bullshit that is.

I realize I'm probably guilty of whatever happens now is the best/worst/biggest thing EVAR, but ...

That *has* to at least make the short list of worst calls ever.

Maybe y'all watch more baseball than I do, but I see the "ole" tag called that way about once a year -- about as often as the "area" play at 2nd base. And you don't pick the 19th inning of a game between two playoff contenders to bust it out.

It was terrible call. All you have to do is look at Lugo's reaction, he knew he was tagged.
