It's OK ... he can disagree, just like I disagree with buck across the way on the integrity of the no-hitter. That's what the game's about. :)

This is the new Moneyball -- swindle dim GMs by giving them little copper trinkets for their diamonds and gold.

And you knew Kenny Williams would be in on this, somehow. He always is.

He would pay for a $20 bottle of wine in pennies if he could.

Go ahead and break out the "It's Only 17" headlines, folks ...

Mariners 9, NY Yankees 2. Seattle returns home on a hot streak!

A good week or so short of the modern-day record for losing streaks (23 by the Phillies in 1961, I believe)

I'm not going to rehash this for the millionth time, but comparing last night's debacle to the Denkinger miss doesn't hunt.

    1. The Denkinger call was about 1,000 times closer.

    2. The Denkinger call didn't end the fucking game. And neither did the Maier home run, for that matter.

As for the Buccos, I feel for them. They were fucked in the worst possible fashion last night. It happens to everybody. That it happened to them during the most meaningful stretch of baseball they've played in 18 years is the kicker.

I love the fact that they protested, but it won't do a damn bit of good.

Right, right, right, and ultimately right.

I don't know what the Bucs think they're going to get. They're not going to get a judgment call overturned 24 hours later.

It's karmic justice for atrocities committed in Super Bowl XL.

Don't tell me the so-full-it's-time-to-call-the-fire-marshal Pirates bandwagon doesn't eat Roethlisburgers, too. Guilt by association.

Neil Walker and Ben Roethlisberger don't worship at the same altar, baby. ;)

You know I'm pulling for the Pirates. You're the only one who's not all in on this.

Denkinger had to deal with the same shit... well, not the Facebook campaigns, of course.

Something tells me Colby won't be a fan of Canada's publicly-funded health care system.

what also doesn't hunt is comparing a regular-season game july 26th to bad call in postseason play.

but the question was addressing whether there was truth to the hyperbole that this was the worst call in history. now, as i noted eaelier, if we're limited to looking at an ump's botched call deciding the game on its final play. if that's the criteria for 'worst call ever,' then it might be. though how is it even possible to substantiate it?

it's really a silly issue. whether it was THE worst or the 10th worst or 100th worst, are there folks here who are opposed to replay in baseball on scoring plays?
