The more I think about it, the more I like the Pence trade for the Phils. He'll be a great replacement for Ibanez in a corner outfield spot next season. Right now, Pence makes half as much. Even with an extension, it probably won't cost them as much as Ibanez gets now.
Plus, any time you can trade prospects for a two-time, 28-year-old all-star just coming into his prime, I think you've got to make that deal.

The more I read about the Rasmus deal, the more I'm convinced the Cardinals decided they were absolutely going to get rid of him -- but only to a team they felt couldn't hurt them.

The reports of Mozeliak asking for the moon, the stars, the solar system: I would bet it was to other National League teams or AL studs like the Yankees and Red Sox. Toronto? Eh, in their minds they probably don't think that will hurt them as much.

Doug Fister and David Pauley to the Tigers for Charlie Furbush, Casper Wells, Francisco Martinez and a player to be named.

Furbush has shown some good signs in his brief time in the majors. Wells is a fourth OF. Martinez is probably the key to this deal. Pretty strong 3B prospect, who the Tigers could give up with Nick Castellanos behind him at Single A.

Also of note: The Tigers top pitching prospect, Jacob Turner, is making his major league debut tonight.

Charlie Furbush is a name that could eventually reach Rusty Kuntz levels of popularity.

Any of y'all know what Phenix City's nickname used to be? There was even a movie made about it (and a Pulitzer Prize won over it)!

Rangers work a trade with Baltimore, get RHP Koji Uehara and $2M cash in exchange for INF Chris Davis and RHP Tommy Hunter.

Excellent deal. Texas gets its set-up man, gives up very little, and still has plenty of juice to pull something even bigger today and tomorrow.

Looks like Ubaldo to the Tribe.

Tribe's giving up three minor leaguers looks like including top prospect Drew Pomeranz (sp?)

Hmm, since Ubaldo is now pitching I wonder if that deal fell through.

Looks like he was pulled after the first inning, though that could have been because he had a really bad inning.
