Braves deal Shafer, three minor-leaguers to Astros for Michael Bourn. And none of the minor-leaguers are the top-shelf pitchers. Bourn is arb eligible, so they can keep him next year before the Boras effect is in full force. All that said, as a Braves fan, I'd like to think Wren's not done, but as a believer that Liberty Media sucks almost as bad as the Cubs, I'll believe it when I see it.

ESPN's Keith Law on the Bourn trade:

"It makes me wonder if Houston had a ranking of Atlanta's top 25 prospects but looked at it upside-down."

Nice. Gotta love watching another team dump arguably its top two hitters without getting full value on the field so they can save a few pennies.

Rangers get Mike Adams for prospects Robbie Erlin and Joe Wieland. Wow ... pretty cheap considering they have Adams for 2012 also.

Cardinals win Heath Bell sweepstakes by default.

    Verlander through seven.

And yes, he's got no-hit stuff -- again.

And Weaver has been his usual strong self as well.

And Weaver just got tossed for throwing a ball at the batter's head after giving up a home run.

Guillen did take his time to drop his bat and start trotting, which pissed Weaver off. Wendelstedt issued warnings before the next pitch.

If you're going to throw at somebody, this was about as justified as any.

I'll agree, it could have just as easily been aimed at the ribs.
