Yes, and Lilly pitched in the zenith of the steroids era in the American League, and all but 1 1/2 of those years in the AL East. Rendering your "he has a higher ERA" baloney hollow.

I am comparing them when it has been apples-to-apples -- since 2007. Also, your source talked about who they are, not who they were five years ago. And Rodriguez is the better pitcher and has been for three-plus seasons, thus making the "poor man's Ted Lilly" comment the real baloney.

Time for the latest installment of "What was Ozzie thinking?"

Bottom of the eighth, White Sox down 3-2 to CC and the Yanks.

Quentin gets a two-out hit. Adam Dunn due up next, hitting .041 against lefties on the season. He already has two of his patented strike outs against Sabathia, who's still pitching.

Ozzie lets Dunn "hit" and he whiffs on three straight. :p

How can you not pinch hit there? Good luck getting a better chance against Rivera in the ninth.

It isn't my source. It was something I read. I don't know who the f- said it, though I do agree with it.

It is amazing that Rodriguez actually pitched in two World Series games for this team. He's already 32, by the way. Lilly only three years older than that and the more decorated pitcher.

You are entitled to agree with the guy. You're both wrong, but you are entitled to be wrong.

Compare the numbers. They are rough contemporaries.

Rodriguez has been in the Astros rotation for six and a half years. Not all with brutal horsecrap teams.

Ozzie is the Herm Edwards of baseball who had the good fortune of winning a World Series 7 years ago, and who has won 1 playoff game since.
Ozzie had the ultimate good fortune to have 4 very good years from 4 very good pitchers who each pitched over 200 innings that season. And pitchers who, for the most part, have not duplicated their career years.

Three years ago, the comment would have made sense. Now? It shows the guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

The Red Sox should force John Lackey to be a part-time groundskeeper to get some sort of recompense for that contract.

The Indians were on the brink of offensive starvation coming into tonight before Lackey served up meatballs over the plate.

You get a kick out of this, don't you . . . arguing about Wandy f-ing Rodriguez and his value to a 35-73 Astros team. We both look like idiots.

Never mind that. You haven't proved Lilly is inferior. You posted ERA and some other mush, zeroing in on the studied opinion of an anonymous National League GM who might know more about Ted Lilly and Wandy Rodriguez than you do.

You're the one who insisted on making it an argument. I just told you that the guy said something stupid. He didn't bother to look at the actual production of the two guy sin the comparison.

And yes, I did prove that Rodriguez has been superior since 2007. You just don't like being proven wrong, so you're going to keep shoving your fingers in your ears and ignoring the evidence.

Well, if that really works with you in circumstances like this ...
