You're being what psychologists call a "difficult personality," again.

    Anyway, back on topic....

The NL Central -- how you got it playing out? I'm not sold on St. Louis, at all. I think Pittsburgh's trades were weak and not enough unless guys like McCutchen and Walker et. al. can carry them all the way through.

Honestly, I think it'll come down to Milwaukee and Cincinnati. I'll go with the Brewers, but could easily see Cincinnati taking it.

This won't be news to MankyJimy, but Jeter has more "game" than Lou Gehrig ever did:

Brief note on the Jeff/Jered Weaver thing:

In case you didn't remember, Jeff was the Tigers' "ace" for a large portion of the late 90's so it was probably more of a Freudian slip than negligence. I must say that I was rather disappointed in Jered - not specifically because of the hothead thing, but because Jeff would have totally dropped the gloves there. Might have been the first pitcher to charge the plate had that been him out there, not to mention the first no-hitter/fight game since Pedro's No Crying in Baseball effort.

It should also be noted that I was secretly hoping for Verlander to get the no hitter and point to the scoreboard, triggering a mass brawl out of Braveheart.

My guess is he was thinking he wished that foul ball he took of the smush in KC a few weeks ago hit him hard enough to put him on the 7-day concussion DL so he wouldn't have to watch Bruce Chen shove it up his team's ass again.

    But, maybe not.

We were on topic. We're talking about Major League Baseball. I know that's a ridiculous idea on this thread.

Actually, it was on the POS Weaver, who screamed at Ordonez to run on his home run, even though there was some pretty good doubt whether it would be fair or foul.

THAT was what Guillen was responding to. Had Weaver not been a crybaby (or made a better pitch), the Guillen thing never would have happened.

Correct, Guillen shouldn't have done it, but it was in response to something Weaver did. In other words, both players were wrong.

And if you think it's ever right to throw at someone's head, you're a complete idiot. Throw at the ribs, throw behind the batter.

Six games for Weaver (which really amounts to one game).

    One game for Scioscia.

Weaver is appealing. Not sure on Scioscia.

If he's going to get 6 games he should have made it worth while. Guillen will get his.

I completely agree on the sentiment, but if you've seen the pitch you'd know Weaver threw about two feet over Avila's head. Avila flinched, but he didn't even have to duck.
I agree that Weaver deserved an ejection and a suspension for it. I also think it's been made to sound worse than it was.

The pitch that Carrasco launched at Billy Butler's head on Friday was a helluva lot more dangerous. Ticketed for somewhere between his earhole and his temple.

As for the decision to bunt in the 8th of a no-hitter, I can't help but think that was more geared toward Guillen's bush-league play. The Angels could have escalated things, thrown at another guy. Or they could use a bush league ploy of their own and stick it to Detroit where it really hurt.

Now, the bunt (combined with Verlander's error) did eventually get the Angels back into the game. But that sentiment would be much easier to buy if they were only down two runs, not three.
