Quirky little stat — Granderson is the first Yankee since 1945 to have double-digits in doubles, triples, homers and steals

Like I said on the other thread, the new owners of the Cubs are saying and doing all the right things so far.

The hard part comes in the next six months. They have to hire an actually good GM, and then they need to be smart this offseason (personally, I think "smart" in this case means signing one of the big FA 1b, but we'll see).

Amazing what a little coaching can do, eh?

This isn't saying how great the Yankees hitting coach. Just how bad Lloyd McClendon is.

Quite a week for Joe Girardi. Smartest man in the room fails to protest an obvious blown call as the Yankees fall to the Royals by a run Wednesday. Then today he tries to convince the press he and A.J Burnett didn't actually tell each other to fuck off today. Super genius. Such a good manager and handler of people. Yankees are lucky to have him.

Gawd, that was ugly. Anybody want Fernando Rodney? I'm sure he'll be a free agent soon.

How many games have the Brewers won this year while trailing going into the 9th inning? Seems like everytime I see a box score, they're rallying in their last at bat. Certainly seems like enough to be the difference between a close race and the September walk in the park they're going to enjoy.

And speaking of, has there been a year in recent history where there will be so little September drama? We're very likely headed to where the only playoff spots to be decided next month will be the NL West and the AL Central.

Braves and Red Sox making a mockery of the wild-card races, both up at least 7.5 as of today. When was the last time either league's wild-card was such a runaway?
