    Not gonna happen.

Also, Buster Olney reports that the Yankees have claimed Carlos Pena:

Given that the Yankees have the best record in the AL, this means every other team passed on Pena, right?

Not a bad move if all the Yankees have to do is give up some non-prospect. He'll give them some good lefty pop at DH, especially with the short porch at the Stadium.

    Not gonna happen:

The Cubs told Carlos Pena on Wednesday they pulled him off waivers after the Yankees claimed the first baseman.

Conventional wisdom out here seems to be Bell will not be a Giant this year.

Yeah, I can't see the Giants giving up what it would take to get him after they just traded their best prospect (Zack Wheeler) in the Beltran deal. Most likely they just claimed Bell to block the D'backs from getting him.

yanks down, 7-1, early vs. a's, have outtscored oakland 22-1 since, including mlb-record three grannies by martin, cano, granderson. 22-8, 2 down, bottom 8th. yanks batted around in last 4 at-bats.

stunning to me that in history of mlb, no team had ever hit 3 grannies in a game before. stunning to everyone? ??? ??? ???

According to AP, no. Meanwhile, projected ticket sales for "Moneyball" may have taken a hit.

Thome back to Cleveland. I'm not going to lie, this makes me feel like I'm 12 years old again. I think I have a Thome jersey back at my parents house buried somewhere in the basement. It would only be four sizes too small.
