That is probably the case with Thome's old Cleveland jersey also

I think it's a testament to Jeter that the board is chronicling his climb back to .300

When was the last time so many fans were checking the box scores daily too see how a player did in that day's game?

Maybe Ichiro in 2004 when he set the single-season hits record? Nah, probably not even then I think the only parallel is George Brett in 1980. What a season

Things I'll never understand: Why people continue to insist on quoting Derek Jeter about, well, almost anything.

“You’re not going to see it again, probably,” said captain Derek Jeter, who batted a whopping four times with the bases loaded and drove in one run. “You can’t explain it.”

What I find even odder is that there have been 59 occasions on which a pitcher has struck out four batters in an inning, but never a five-strikeout inning.

You'd figure one in 60, it'd happen somewhere along the line.

I think that every time I see someone record four whiffs in an inning. You'd think someone with stuff that is unhittable and uncatchable would have allowed two guys to reach via a passed ball or a wild pitch on a strikeout and ended up with five strikeouts in an inning. I'm not entirely unconvinced Bobby Witt didn't do it in 1987.

I'm predicting he'll hit about 890 feet of home runs against the Royals this weekend. Seriously, he should dedicate a three-minute portion of his HOF speech to the Royals' shitty front office for providing so much batting practice over the years.

UM, NO, mankster. you sell yourself short. way too modest. this is all a testament to the BUTTONS YOU'VE PUSHED SO MASTERFULLY here since your blind 'jeteslove' was made clear.

as i've noted several times, i'm not at all proud that you've put me -- and i'm sure others who have so enjoyed jeter's career -- in a position of practically rooting against him just so you will shut up and go away...

i might have missed the transition, but when did manky go from jon saraceno to jeter as his man crush?

Probably until the day I die, the oddest thing that I've witnessed at a game in person was Brad Lidge striking out four in an inning and Ben Sheets striking out the side on nine pitches in the same game in 2004.

I think it happened once in a spring training game with one of the Niekros in the 1970s.

Well, going below .300 may have made Jeter rethink his love life. Entertainment Weekly reports he and Minka Kelly called it quits after three years.

    Wow. Really, Derek? :)

    A.J. Burnett is fucking terrible.

He gave up 6 extra base hits (4 doubles and 2 home runs) and 6 runs in the second inning.

    He's thrown 50 pitches through 2 innings.

Girardi never got anyone up during the 2nd. I hope he gives up 10 more runs and Girardi lets him stay in the game.

You didn't like coming out early your last start A.J.? Well, then suck it up this time.

(Of course while I was writing this post the fucker pitched a 3 up, 3 down 3rd inning.)
