Scioscia's gonna send Santana and Weaver out on short rest against Texas Saturday and Sunday. I don't know how set-in-stone these things are -- as in, Scioscia may reserve the right to change his mind if Texas holds on to its big lead tonight -- but the Rangers fanboi in me loves this. I am not a big admirer of the pitcher-on-short-rest gambit, and I am especially skeptical of that approach on a back-to-back basis. What says the rest of the board?

With 30 games left, that sounds insane.

It raises the question: Do they meet again this season?

Yes, the Rangers are at Anaheim the last few games of the season.

So let me get the straight. The Orioles are in the midst of grieving about the loss of a franchise legend and employee, a fucking hurricane is coming up the coast and causing evacuations and flood concerns, including in Baltimore City, and the Yankees are whining like little bitches because the O's won't bend over backwards to reschedule games the way the Yankees want them rescheduled?

Fuck Joe Girardi, Curtis Granderson, and all those other bitches. The most unlikeable fucking team in baseball.

BBBM* pulled Weaver after 7 the other night (with a 7-0 lead, IIRC) in order to give him a little rest. Weaver was noticeably pissed (Hunter later said he had to calm Weaver down) so I suspect he'll do fine and it's worth it, in his case.

Santana OTOH, is a major head case with a spotty-at-best road record so I'm not sure what you'll gain by screwing with his rhythm.

Giarardi is acting like a giant douche here. I'm betting the O's would have been willing to work something out if Girardi had actually been man enough to talk Showalter instead of running to the media immediately.

As Jeff Zrebiec points out, the Yankees are one of the least flexible teams when it comes to scheduling their own home games.
