Worked out for Scioscia tonight. Santana went 7, gave up 4 runs. A dumb play by Mike Trout in right field contributed to 2 of those runs. Angels hit 5 solo homers, four off All-Star CJ Wilson, so maybe there should be more discussion about the Rangers' pitchers than the Angels. Weaver goes today on 3 days rest. We'll see.
Scioscia said by doing this now, it helps set up things for later. I don't know for sure what he was talking about. But he did say this was a absolutely a one-time thing. All the pitchers will get normal rest the rest of the way.
The season ends with the Rangers in Anaheim for 3 games.

It might set a surgery up for later when Ervin Santana's right elbow begins to hurt.

Mike Napoli's having a pretty good year in Texas, which is two games ahead of the Angels. I see Scioscia finally gave up on Jeff Mathis and declared a catcher needs to contribute offensively. Interesting.

Well-played sir and I tip my cap to you. I don't drink soda anymore, but I'll make an exception here. :D

Justin Verlander first to reach 20 wins this year. Didn't have his best stuff Saturday, giving up four runs.

Odds on favorite for Cy Young. I've read some national articles arguing he should be the MVP too.

Christ, Granderson's probably gonna get to 40 homers by the end of the month.

Hopefully he does it before the meanie Orioles make him play a night game Sept. 8, then FLY DURING THE NIGHT!!!!! to their next city, because if that happens he might just keel over from exhaustion.

To be fair, the next city is Anaheim. But the sounds of it is that the game will be an afternoon start.

Looks like Texas got off the hook.
