    Fun fact from Thursday -- the Yankee win clinched their 19th straight winning season, which is second-most all time. Of course they are now halfway to the record, held by the Yankees from 1926 to 64. That's just sick.

    Brewers play the Astros ... good luck with that.

    I don't think the six-year free agent rule applies to international professional players. For example, Ichiro's original contract with the Mariners was only three years.

    Buster Olney opened a can of worms on his Twitter page.

    Wins? Pitching to the score?

    We've had the discussion (fight) here a bunch of times. It's been going on for hours, but here's a taste:

    @Buster_ESPN -- Buster Olney

    It's laughable to suggest winning meaningless for pitchers. When they makes decisions pitch to pitch, it's in name of winning games,not FIP.

    Let's say Lincecum leads 5-0, and has a runner at third and one out in 4th. Do you think he cares about his ERA or BABIP in that situation?

    Careful, my friend. You're going to make some of our sabermetricians cry with that reality. ;)

    I think there's room for both points of view.

    Buster Olney is one of the best in the business at breaking news and getting insider info, And his daily Insider notes column is a must-read. But he doesn't know dick about analysis. Give me Rob Neyer every day of the week and twice on Sundays over Olney in that department.
