This could be the Red Sox ideal ballgame -- a four hour plus 1-0 game.

Boy, did Brett Lawrie just hit the living fuck out of that meatball to win it for the Jays. I was just hoping he wouldn't Kendry Morales himself with his flying leap to the plate.

I've been a Jays fan since day one and I don't know if I have seen a better - or more exciting - young player, offensively or defensively, come through these parts, certainly not since Tony Fernandez.

Lost in that marathon was a great performance by starter Henderson Alvarez and a damn good outing by the beleaguered bullpen.

Tigers avoid a letdown, continue to beat up on teams chasing them. Victor Martinez is KILLING it with RISP. Hit a 3-R homer today.

What? No mention of Doug Fister?

    2 R, 1 ER, five hits (I think), 1 BB AND 13 Ks. (THIRTEEN)

I believe his ERA with the Tigers is now less than 1.00.

I think that Fister trade will go down as a win-win. He's thrown great for the Tigers, and Casper Wells (and, at times, Furbush) has been solid for the Ms. And that doesn't even take into account the minor leaguer, who was key to the deal.

I'm not writing an AP story here :p ....... I was at the game last week when Fister had a perfcet game going until the 6th or 7th. He is a very solid third starter.

Beckett sprains his ankle today. Not sure if he's going to miss any starts.

this guy might be my fave 'new' player. great glove, lively bat... he made a few brooks robinesque plays. very impressed.

as for jesus montero, i'm a long way from becoming convinced he's the real deal, given all the hype (the most successful yank prospects have the more unhearalded, including cano and pettitte)... but montero sure has shown more impressive bat speed than he did during spring training, when he looked like a figment of the n.y. hype machine to me. if he turns out to be for real, here's one more for hatahs to hate on the yanks...

With all this talk of perfect games, it seems that fans of such outings might want to see how the White Sox's Zach Stewart is doing tonight. In the top of the seventh now, Sox up 4-0.
