Not major league, but Reds Single-A shortstop Billy Hamilton, a former 2nd-round pick, has 103 stolen bases this season (with the 3-game Midwest League playoff series still to come). He's apparently a butcher on defense, but has shown decent enough on-base skills.

Pretty cool for a lot of reasons, not the least of which that he shares a name with Hall of Famer "Sliding" Billy Hamilton, baseball's first great base-stealer.

Oh, given the way baseball people think, that kid could hit .130 and get major league time if he continues doing that.

He'll need to learn how to lob firecrackers into a crowd and get run down by a tarp if he wants to make it big in the bigs, though.

Wait until Dusty makes Aroldis Chapman a starter. That will be fun.

Shit, if I was running a playoff bound team, I'd think about putting him on the post season roster just to pinch run.

Those damn baseball people and the way they think. WTF do they know?

They know the sport of baseball. The finer points of game theory and strategy, however, are not always their best point.

In the playoffs, on a 25-man roster, I've always thought there should be room for a pinch runner. You can afford to short your bullpen or bench a spot because you aren't going to be giving guys off days just for rest.

Your intent is to disagree with anything I say right now. That's fine.

    Troll-like tendencies.

The Strasurrection is underway at Nats Park. Scoreless 1st for Jee-SUS. 11 pitches.

Ted Lilly is in the process of throwing the longest, scoreless half-inning ever.

That was brutal. Good God. Was waiting 31, 30 and 29 seconds between pitches. Ugh. It's gonna start pouring any minute at Nats Park, too. What a dope.
