There's a Josh Hancock joke in there somewhere, but I can't find it.

Serious question. Both the Braves and Cards have been selling postseason tix for a couple weeks now. Will the fans whose team doesn't make the playoffs be entitled for a refund? Is it up to the team? How does this work?

No refund. The team that does not make the playoffs lets those who bought tickets exchange them for a spring training game in 2012.

Sounds like it was a cool setup by Coop and the rest of the team ... Buehrle coming off the field solo for the great ovation. And he rose to the occasion and pitched a typical strong Buehrle game.

I'd love to see him still on the Sox, but I sense salary slashing aplenty this offseason, J&E.

It was a nice ovation. You could tell he was humbled and truly appreciative of it.

I interrupt all this entertaining back and forth with a question: Did any of you see the 10th inning of the Dodgers-DBacks game tonight?

1-1 game. Top 10, the Dodgers score five runs to go up 6-1.

Bottom 10, Dodgers get two quick outs and the third batter bounces one up the first base line to Loney, who gets ready to throw to the pitcher covering for the final out, except the pitcher is looking up at an airplane or UFO or Chase Field's beautiful retractable roof and doesn't bother covering the base. Man on first.

Then a single and walk loads the bases. Then an error on the third baseman brings one home. 6-2.

Then LA brings in hot reliever Javy Guerra, except he walks in a run to make it 6-3, setting the stage for "Tatman" Ryan Roberts, who hits the first pitch over the left-field wall for a grand slam and a 7-6 Arizona win.

I give the DBacks credit for winning the division, but, oh man, they have just led a charmed life this year.

OK, enough. This thread is dedicated to spnited, who would have lit this kid up and sent his clueless ass wimpering into a corner. Then he would have lit the rest of you up for piling on and continuing with it just for yuks.
So let's stop, everybody. Including me. But not before I tell Skippy to take today off from posting instead of forcing me to give him the day (and a couple more) off so he can READ a while and get a fucking clue.
We are not your "homies" - don't call us bro, dude, dawg or anything.
    Just STFU for a while.

As for the baseball part of life, disappointed the Nats can't finish above .500 - but a win today would give them 80. Pretty decent year. Honest to goodness hope around these parts.
And that no-walking Morse hit another one last night!

Seriously, folks, a LOT going on in actual baseball right now. Let's enjoy, discuss and leave the children alone.

Some pretty good young hurlers going in completely meaningless games today: Brandon Morrow, Drew Pomeranz, some guy named Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez. With everyone just wanting to get the hell out of Dodge unhurt, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw someone (or a team of someones, since Strasburg doesn't know the arm is a muscle that needs to be worked and will thus be lifted after five innings) flirt with a Mike Witt.

If Strasburg can go perfect in 70 pitches, the Nats wil let him.

Impossible. You can't strike everyone out in less than 81 pitches.
