Sherzer, 82 pitches through 5. There's already been action in the bullpen.

Does he get pulled while throwing a no-hitter?

I would think that Leyland just lets him go, since that's kind of his mindset and its the playoffs anyway. However, you're probably at the point in the game where you have somewhere warming or close to warming in every inning.

On your point about Gardner - I think beyond the fact that it doesn't help you go faster, the risk to injury has to be much higher when you slide headfirst into first. Even if you're going to run into the pitcher while running standing up, there is a better chance that you break up the play or get an interference call that way.

I see Kirk Gibson is a slow learner. Second straight day he pitches to Fielder with Braun on second and two outs. Second straight day he gets burned.

Holy crap. If the Yankees do something here, it will really be something.

Why was it a cheapo home run?

Meh. Still counts. How many do the Yankees have at home this year that would be easy fly balls to right in most of the other ballparks in the AL?

So much for Greinke being untouchable at home. Four runs, all coming on homers (one was a 2-run shot) in five innings.

More a comment on small the differences are between success & failure.

He was also pitching on short rest just so he would pitch at home. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea for the Brewers.

Pitchers are not trained to pitch on 3 days' rest anymore. Some can do it, and a few can do it quite well. But they're the exception, not the rule.
