I'd say that game is why managers drink. Manuel may not be sure it's over yet.

Hell of a game but a tough way to lose for the Cardinals. As an STL fan I'd love to see a five-game series, obviously, but they've outplayed Philly for big chunks of this series so far and still trail. Frustrating.

Fastball, you mean. If Jaime Garcia can throw an 89 MPH breaking ball, I'd hate to see his fastball.

Yeah, the Cardinals lineup has been better overall, but they couldn't cash in tonight, and the Phils got the one big break/hit.
Meanwhile, another routine hitless inning for A. J. Burnett. Girardi may be drinking in the dugout by the third inning.

Well, I hope you all appreciate the American League MVP now.

I can't believe they made Burnett look good out there. Though, to be fair, this game's MVP through 6 1/2 is clearly Granderson. Killing the Tigers tonight.

Like to know how many outs there have been on the basepaths in this postseason.

Very disappointing performance out of the Tigers in this one. Porcello was merely OK, which wasn't nearly enough given the number of bad at-bats they had, especially from fringe guys like Santiago and Betemit. Not getting much pub so far is the fact that Avila, who was the All-Star starter, has been awful in this series (0-9, 2 BB) and looks like he's out of gas (which makes sense, as Martinez has been unable to catch since August and there really isn't anyone they could bring up in the system save for Omir Santos, who simply isn't ML quality).

Not going to throw in the towel, but this was the game to win. They didn't do well against Nova last time and they aren't the team built for the Bronx. Fister has the potential to be a great matchup for the Tigers, but just the venue makes them a 40/60 proposition at best on Thursday night.

Can't help but wonder if things go differently tonight if that ball gets over Granderson's head in the first inning.
