Why bring Putz into this game?

I think they were saying while he was warming up that he hadn't been in a game in a while. According to ESPN, his last regular season game was Sept. 27, and he hadn't been in the first two games.

Now Pujols is bitching about playing day games? Is he really learning how to be insufferable from LaRusa?

He's probably just trying to gain a little leverage with the Cubs for the off-season.

Sounds like they need to do a sign-and-trade with Boston and get Adrian Gonzalez out of playing all those night games.

no question granderson saved burnett's hide. but from that point on, burnett exceeded EVERYONE'S expectations. good for him. i don't like to see anyone scapegoated the way he (deservedly) has. nice to see the blind squirrel find and acorn.

but if the yanks go on to do much more success this year, granderson's play will be the leap-off point for everyone's rehash.

Just watching a Brewers-Diamondbacks replay. What the blue hell is that idiot Joe West doing in a postseason game? I would have thought being the worst umpire in baseball would disqualify one from such things.

Nope. It's based on seniority. I think Angel Hernandez has even worked some postseason games.

As has Bob Davidson, or "Gutless" Bob Davidson, as Skip Caray always called him.

Once Granderson made that catch with the bases loaded, I had a bad, bad feeling. Burnett looked like garbage in the first and got away unscathed. I'm not feeling too hot about a clinching game in New York, but I think Fister will pitch better. Leyland needs to take out Betemit for Inge immediately and then light a fire up Avila's ass. He looks like a 12-year-old boy out there in terms of being afraid to even swing.

It doesn't. It's one of the great black marks on the game. There are a dozen guys currently working who would NEVER, EVER work ANY game (let alone the postseason) if I ruled the world.
