So what excuse do d'back fans have?

Why do they need an excuse? They didn't want to go to the goddamn game. Personally, I wouldn't want to spend five hours -- much of it bored out of my mind while TV was away for extended commercial breaks -- to see things less clearly than I could at home. And I sure as hell wouldn't want to spend 100 bucks or more taking a family of four to do that.

Sounds like a shitty baseball market. If you can't sell out playoff games at 16 bucks a ticket in a beautiful stadium, the market sucks.

    It isn't quite so simple.

Is he doing radio? Because that's not Mike Breen on TBS - it's the Brewers TV guy (Brian Anderson, I think?)

It really is. YF can weigh in more here, but that has been known as the problem for the entire Rays existence and nobody has ever saw fit to do anything except bitch. If they want to build themselves a new stadium, they can do it. Private financing works. Bud Selig just doesn't want you to know that because he'd rather extort taxpayers.

    Yes, it's Brian Anderson.

Yes, if you build it you might sell out playoff games like Arizona does.

Personally I think Arizona is a bad stadium, definitely toward the bottom of the ones I've been to anyway.

Give me a fucking break. If you love baseball and your team is winning it shouldn't matter where they play. If expense is an issue, fine. If you are charging 16 bucks a ticket and you can't sell out a playoff game, the market stinks.

Name the last time a major sport franchise breached its lease and got itself a new playpen, in that community.
