I'll echo what everyone else is saying about Girardi's managing today. Didn't make sense. Also, why was Montero invisible this series, with what he did down the stretch?

Always great to see the Yankees go down.

2 solo hrs and they never came back. they got a gift with a bases loaded walk. Cano crushed one ball, other than that they didn't hit shit. WTF did Girardi have to do with that. Fister is decent but they made him look like fuckin Maddux from the early 90s.

You're right. That ball Jeter hit to the track would have gone way out if Rodriguez had been the one to hit it. Unlike Jeter, Rodriguez still has some power.

Pure comedy that the "Blame A-Rod" shit starts the moment the Yankees lose. Never mind the huge moments of failure by Jeter in this series, and that includes the fly ball to the track, just another reminder of how much he has lost as a hitter.

how much he lost? he never was better than 20 hrs a season. Arod had 2 hits and 3 strikeouts in the series.

Montero doesn't have that veteran sheen yet. Maybe in 10 years, he'll be ready for the postseason.

He still always had some pop, but not any more. He's just a singles hitter now, and not even as good at that as he used to be.

Jeter played about the way he did in the regular season.

A-Rod had two hits in five games -- and both of those hits were in a huge eighth inning when he batted with a three-run lead and then with a seven-run lead. Pressure off.

The Captain hit .297, and his career average is .313. When you consider that offense is down to levels approaching the pre-DH era, .297 average in 2011 is like hitting .335 in the year 2000.

Please keep your delusions where they belong on the Jeter thread. They are not welcome in a serious discussion. Thank you.

All during September Montero was the DH vs LHP and Posada the DH vs RHP. Detroit threw out a RH starter in every game. Considering Posada put up a .429/.579/.571 line this series, you can't argue this part of the move.

Martin sucked this series, but are you really going to bench him for a guy with a career 3 MLB games behind the plate and by all accounts is a pretty poor defensive catcher?

true. i was surprised at how well Posada swung the bat. he probably will be insulted now if they don't give him 8-9 mil next year. but he should be offered no more than 2 mil. Bernie Williams was every bit the team player (probably more because he was on the bad teams of the early 90s) and he was offered what he was worth, not extra for playing his whole career with one team.

Do you need me to explain era-adjustment to you? Ten or twelve years ago players were leading the league with batting averages of .375. Now you can lead the league with a .330 batting average. Which means to compare between 2011 and 2000 you need to add 40 points to Jeter's batting average.
