Sans every interview with Cabrera ever.

Luckily enough it is a 7 game series.

Ahh, he's becoming a bit more understandable -- or maybe I'm getting a bit more used to him.

During the regular season, either he doesn't talk to the regular beatwriter grunts, or they don't talk to him, preferring instead to mine the trenchant mind of .183-hitter Brandon Inge.

Cards' record in NLCS games in which Nick Punto starts: 2-0
Cards' record in NLCS games in which Ryan Theriot starts: 0-2

    I'm just saying.

Those who pay attention should be unsurprised. Puntocity > all.

Just to get back to this for one moment, John Axford was throwing some serious gas tonight for Milwaukee. He was a bartender three years ago. Had been languoring in a Canadian wood bat summer league when he got discovered. Nobody needs to be paying out the ass for Jonathan Papelbon.

What happened to the sabermetrician idea of using the closer in the 7th or 8th?

It failed that one time the Red Sox did it about eight years ago, so you won't see it tried again until 2027. Teams are oddly risk-averse about stuff.
