I was out covering football tonight so I didn't see the game, but I would never trust Greinke in a big game. I know only two of the runs he gave up were earned, but no strikeouts?

Whoever gives this guy a big contract next offseason is a fool.

He was a starter throughout the minors, and started 10 games for them in 1995. He showed some flashes, including 11 strikeouts in 8 innings in a July 4 win against the White Sox, but he struggled for the most part.

The next year he was in the bullpen, and the rest is history.

The Epstein situation is getting contentious.

The Cubs feel that this is a non-lateral move (Epstein is getting more baseball ops responsibility and doubling his salary), so baseball protocol sayh the Red Sox shouldn't get in the way.

The Red Sox feel that this is essentially a lateral move, and since they have him under contract for a year, they should be able to extract something of real and tangible value.

The leaks are starting to come from both sides (they used to be one-dimensional, just coming from Boston). The Cubs think the Red Sox are being unreasonable and intend to dig in their heels. The Red Sox are insisting they are willing to eat the $6.5 million keeping him for a year in Boston to twiddle his thumbs (He's owed a $3.5 million exit bonus in his contract, which escalates to $5 million in 212. The Cubs are willing to pay that as compensation for taking Epstein. $5 million + $1.5 million in salary to do nothing).

"Sources" are accusing the Red Sox of making this personal, that top Red Sox officials are mad at Epstein for bailing and want to make this difficult for him.

It's more-and-more easily understood how Henry is a Selig pet.

    Assholes do attract.

Good start for the Tigers. Would love to see them push this to Game 7.
