This is true. Cashman could learn a thing or two from how the Rangers operate.

They are in the World Series. The Yankees are long gone. 'nuff said.

Now, who wants to talk about something actually relevant to what is going on now in baseball?

What are the most well-ran organizations in MLB?

    Texas
    Tampa Bay
    St. Louis
    Atlanta

That would probably be my list. New York has underperformed. A few years ago Cleveland would've been on this list - I don't think I've ever seen a team rebuild as quickly as they did. They were a playoff team in 2001, then turned over more than 90% of the roster and were knocking on the door by 2004. I think Wedge was the wrong manager for the team; they had the talent but only made the playoffs once.

Worst ran organization? Might be Boston. A month ago SI was touting them as the model organization of post-Moneyball era. Now we see what the reality was there.

Nolan Ryan has brought toughness to this current team. His affiliation with the Round Rock team team and his probable involvement with most all farm operations has certainly given an osmosis effect of toughness.
That team reminds me of his style he had back with the Rangers in the 90s.

I shouldn't respond, but here goes. Detroit took six of the nine games they played against Texas. And look where they are now.

Regular season success doesn't predict postseason success.

Not to continue to feed a sock puppet, but this is as old as baseball. See: 1906 Hitless Wonder White Sox beating the 116-win Cubs in the World Series. See: 83-79 1973 Mets beating the Big Red Machine in the NLCS and taking the A's to seven games in the World Series. Those were the two best teams of their era.
If a team's good enough to make the playoffs, it's good enough to win in 'em. Since there are now three playoff rounds instead of one, the number of alleged "upsets" has expanded accordingly. BTW, what the margin between the Tigers and Rangers in the regular season? Wasn't it one game?
This fact of life bit my Phillies in the ass this year, but it's hardly like I thought it couldn't happen going in.

    NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!

    WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    "Pinstripes . . . (slobber, drool . . . ) . . . "

    Stop.

Not nearly enough reliable starting pitching, and three guys who shit the bed in the postseason for a pastime (Swishie being one of the epic cases in all or baseball history . . . Tex, obviously . . . and A-Rod, who (also) obviously no longer enjoys the luxury of a representative, sustained-postseason threat-calibre Tex hitting behind him.

    Multiple "Mr. Mays"!

    So sad.

It's such a shame. I'm crying into my pillow.

Teixeira has had a HUGE impact on postseason play of late ... his refusal of former owner Hicks' 8-year, $140M deal led to the trade with the Braves that brought the Rangers Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz and Matt Harrison.

Re Manky: Can I just quote back my post when Phillies fans started whining about how unfair a five-game series was?

Marcum vs. Edwin Jackson in a pressure situation? Get ready for a 15-pitcher, 400-pitch 15-13 game.

Up here, can watch Rick Sutcliffe on the international feed. Think he's really good. Just critiqued Ron Roenicke for acting like "he didn't want to hurt Marcum's feelings."
