There have been two headfirst slides into first in this game.

Neither of them were by Nick Punto.

    True story.

Tough luck for BrewCrew but damn, what a nice season it was for that town.
    Good job, boys.

I think Pujols deserves whatever he can get on the open market. I just hope the Yankees don't overpay to get him. I'd rather see NY pry Votto away from Cinci. I read a few days ago that Jockety is taking offers for him.

I sat in front of my TV in 1982 as an 11-year-old and just had a blank stare when the Brewers lost Game 7 of the World Series. It hurt big-time, but when you're 11, you think you can get there every year.

Sat in front of my TV tonight (after leaving for a while to listen on the radio because the Brewers were playing so fucking farcical) and it hurt worse.

Right hand over face, I couldn't watch that celebration again, a repeat of a bad memory from my youth. Not afraid to admit I welled up a bit in the corner of my eye. It hurts.

It sounds dumb, especially for a seasoned sportswriter who knows this isn't life or death, and it's definitely misplaced priorities, but when you're 40, you know these opportunities don't come along very often, especially as a Milwaukee fan.

Anyway, the Cardinals deserved it. Roenicke has some 'splaining to do, especially about how he used his pitchers. Why not throw the dice and go to guys like Saito early instead of after its too late?

I can empathize with you...2001, 2003, 2004 were all heartbreaking ends to the season. Milwaukee will get there one day, just as New York did.

Even with Prince Fielder likely to leave, I wouldn't be surprised to see Milwaukee back in the playoffs again next year. I'm not sure who is available to replace him but it seems like the ownership there is willing to spend to put a winner on the field.

Any predictions for the World Series?

I'm calling it - Texas in 7 games. First World Series to go the distance since 2001.

Chin up. The Crew should be back in 2040. You can watch with your grandkids.

I hate the Cardinals, don't mind the Rangers. Rangers beat my Tigers and it would be funny to see Texas lose consecutiev World Series, but it would simultaneously suck to see the Cardinals won another World Series after they beat my Tigers five years ago. DAMMIT.
