I still can't get over Ron Washington playing his outfield in East St. Louis.

How the FUCK did the Cardinals win that game with Punto on the bench?

That was for the note about Baltimore being the last team to win the Series after losing the previous season.

I think you guys are misunderstanding me. I wasn't questioning the move. I was just blown away by the absurdity of 1) A man who started pitching in the bigs when I was nine years old was still pitching and 2) that a guy with 12 career saves was in that situation.

In that situation, you pitch whoever you have left.

That was baffling. As it turned out, it didn't look like that Berkman hit would have been caught, though, particularly since hadn't Hamilton shifted over by then? Can't see him laying out and making the play in his current condition.

Momentum is Friday's pitcher. I have no idea how good Carpenter can be the second time around on three days rest, but at this point I have to think all 12 STL pitchers are available. Same must be true about Texas, however many pitchers the Rangers are carrying.

It might not have been caught, but there at least would've been a play at the plate. And with Pujols at first, there's no reason on God's green earth to play doubles defense with two outs.

I will say this. A lot of people are missing an incredible World Series.

For sheer drama, one of the best I've ever seen.

Not especially pretty, but damn if it isn't riveting.

This goes along somewhat with why I find college football more exciting than the NFL. A greater chance of mistakes seems to create more excitement. The fact that the Cardinals dropped two flyballs that any good 14-year-old could catch only added to the charm.

I think Buster Olney tweeted this: Skeptical that any team in MLB history had ever won a World Series game after being down to its final strike in two separate innings.

(Not sure if that is limited to an elimination game).
