Watching the replay-on-speed on MLB Network the last couple hours, and it's reminding me of all the little moments in last night's game I'd forgotten:

    * Garcia pitching out of trouble in the first. That game could have gotten out of hand in a hurry for the Rangers.

    * Berkman answering the Rangers' run in the first with a two-run blast. That was huge, although the hit everyone will remember from him - rightfully so - was the single to tie it.

    * Furcal hits a first-pitch dribbler with the bases loaded to snuff out a rally in the seventh. Seemed like it might be St. Louis's last shot at the time, and it was a weak effort by Furcal.

    * The Cardinals went several innings in a row without hitting a ball out of the infield. They were on life support, at best.

What a game. Both last night's contest specifically, and baseball in general.

That Furcal at-bat was in the 8th, which made it even worse.

The one curious thing to me that didn't get much mention on the broadcast, and is somewhat forgotten because it didn't lead to a run, was Andrus playing an easy grounder into an infield single. Buck and McCarver focused on how he should have thrown it to second and first, but it seemed to me like he was just too nonchalant all around. He lobbed one over and Descalso beat it out.

Also just thought about Lohse's weird bunt. That was a tremendous play by Andrus to recover and throw him out at first. Also an example, I think, of when a sacrifice ended up paying dividends, although I guess those runners score no matter what. Still, at the time it got two runners in scoring position with less than two outs.

It's notable that one of if not the most thrilling game in World Series history was also one of if not the World Series game with the poorest fielding.

He's a Cubs fan and the Cardinals are on the brink of winning the World Series. What do you expect?

That and years of dealing with their douchebag fans.

Yeah, it was pretty fitting that the game-tying triple came on a badly butchered fly ball. I think they were too caught up in the moment, but McCarver and Buck should have noted Cruz's poor judgment on Freese's hit, and they didn't even mention it.

Any fan who thinks he and his are "the best" is a douche.
